Sonoma County Sparkles With 2016 Holiday Events

Who needs snow and North Pole weather to get in the spirit? Here in Sonoma County, you’ll find plenty of merry and bright in all of our great little towns and venues, as well as in each of our charming Inns—and without all that pesky shoveling! Here are a few favorite events to add to your

Sonoma lights up! From November 12 through December 31, 2016, historic Sonoma square is a feast of sparkling lights—eight-plus acres and 100,000 lights! If you’re looking for something to get you “in the spirit,” this is it.

2016 Holiday Open House. 19 Sonoma County wineries, including Chateau St. Jean Winery, Imagery Estate Winery, and St. Francis Winery & Vineyards, will toast the holidays with a special two-day event that includes wine tastings, visits with winemakers, wine discounts, gift packages, holiday entertainment and lots of good cheer.

11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Two-day tickets:
$45/person, advance; $55/person, at door. Designated driver/$10. Includes a souvenir glass and wine tastings at all participating wineries.

Wine Country Winter Festival. A new fun event in Santa Rosa, this fest features fine art, great food, wine, cider and beer tastings, and three stages of entertainment. A Holiday Hall hosts Santa and his elves, carolers, gingerbread house makers and cookie decorators.

Holiday Lighted Boat Parade. Head to historic downtown Petaluma to see a delightful display of festive boats as they cruise through the Petaluma River Turning Basin.

Make your lists, check them twice and then head to our quaint downtowns . Word is, even Santa knows that is where you’ll find some of the best gifts ever.

  1. What a great list of things to do! One thing I would add is to check Sally Tomatoes at Sonoma Mountain Village- the event center there is always putting on great shows, and I’m sure they have something special going on for Christmas time! They also have great food, so it’s a win-win!
