The center was created by a group of community leaders who envisioned a place where locals and visitors could enjoy quality performances, without having to travel to San Francisco. Their dream became reality in 1981, when the doors opened with a debut performance by the Santa Rosa Symphony. The Center has been a highlight of the area ever since.
