One of the highlights of the fall season here in wine country is the annual Wine & Food Affair in Northern Sonoma County, November 5-6, 2016. Billed as a weekend of “Tasting Along the Wine Road,” the two-day event offers a wonderful opportunity to explore a variety of vineyards and sample not only excellent varietals, but delicious foods as well.
This year’s event, which stretches across the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys, will feature nearly 100 wineries, including many of the most respected in the area. Each will be presenting a tasting of their wine, paired with a specialty dish. That’s dozens and dozens of delectable bites, all served with wine! Lucky guests will get to sample items such as roasted pumpkin arancini with gorgonzola cheese at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville; sunchoke soup with smoked sturgeon and caviar at Simi Winery in Healdsburg; and smoked chicken terrine with chanterelle vinaigrette at La Crema Russian River Estate in Windsor. Check out the event’s website prior to the event for a full listing of dishes with recipes.
Wine & Food Affair participants can sign up for both days or just Sunday. All ticket holders will receive a tasting glass and wristband upon check-in. Designated drivers will get a different colored wristband.
